Occupational Therapist and Hand Therapist
Belinda is an Accredited Hand Therapist as awarded by the Australia Hand Therapy Association (AHTA). She studied Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia, organising her own placement overseas in Bangladesh, and also volunteering as an OT Assistant in South Africa. She particularly loves the diversity and challenges that hand and upper limb injuries can present and is well vetted in the assessment and rehabilitation of unique pain and conservatively managed injuries, including sports injuries, tendonitis, wrist pain and the management of both operative and non-operative fractures. Belinda is skilled in making paediatric waterproof casts – a new service offered by Adelaide Hand Therapy.
Belinda was on the 2017 National AHTA Conference Committee, working with Kathy Minchin and Erica Elliot to develop a conference program with an international speaker and showcase Adelaide to interstate hand therapists. Belinda has spent time at a number of other hand therapy clinics across Australia, staying at the forefront of hand therapy and to practice up-to-date techniques.
Belinda worked in a private hand therapy clinic in Launceston, Tasmania from 2017-2019. Liaising closely with orthopaedic surgeons, general practitioners and other allied health professionals. She also completed locum work at the sister clinic in Wagga Wagga, NSW when needed, before moving back to Adelaide. She now spends most of her time in private practice but occasionally fills in at the public sector hand therapy department (FMC, RAH, TQEH) when needed.
